Dr. Arellano graduated from the medical school of the Universidad La Salle in 1985 and performed her residency at the Hospital General de Mexico until 1990. She then specialized in Cutaneous Oncology before becoming Professor of Dermatology at the Facultad Mexicana de Medicina, Universidad La Salle, a post that she still holds. Dr. Arellano also acts as Coordinator of the Dermatologic Surgery Department at the Hospital General de Mexico in Mexico City, and she runs a private practice at the Hospital Dalinde.
Dr. Arellano is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery, as well as the Sociedad Mexicana de Dermatologia, Sociedad Mexicana de Cirugia Dermatologica y Oncologica and Sociedad Medica del Hospital General de Mexico. She holds positions on the editorial board of Dermatologma Midica, Cosmitica y Quirzrgica, and acts as an article revisor for Revista Medica Hospital General de Mexico.
Dr. Arellano has given over 150 lectures in national and international dermatological courses and congresses. Her research interests include cutaneous oncology and surgery, pigmentary disorders in Hispanic populations, and dermatological disease in immunosuppressed patients.
Dr. Bergstresser is the Dr. James N. Gilliam Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and trained in dermatology at the University of Miami. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology in dermatology and in dermatological immunology/diagnostic and laboratory immunology.
Dr. Bergstresser's research interests have included dermatological immunology and photobiology.
Dr. Bodemer is Professor in Dermatology and Coordinator of the French Centre for Genetic Skin Diseases, Centre de reference sur les Maladies Génétiques à Expression Cutanée (MAGEC) at the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades in Paris.
Dr. Eastern is Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medical Education. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Memorial Hospital Medical Center and a residency in dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Eastern is active in many dermatological societies, and he is President of the Dermatological Society of New Jersey. He holds teaching positions at a number of hospitals and has delivered over 500 academic speaking presentations. For many years, he has given a course in office efficiency at annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Emer runs numerous medical and cosmetic clinical trials in the Department of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Emer has published several articles and recently a book chapter on the medical treatment of psoriasis and as well as the budding field of sports dermatology. His special interests encompass complicated medical dermatology including the use of immunosuppressants in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, the diagnosis and treatment of sports related dermatological conditions, and the cosmetic dermatology of aging skin.
Dr. Emmet completed his medical program at Boston University in 1968, and, after a 1-year rotating internship at Framingham Union Hospital, served as a dermatologist in the Army for 2 years, including 1 year in Vietnam. After completing his residency at New York University in 1974, he opened a small non cosmetic dermatology practice in San Diego, and has since become Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Emmet has had his articles and photos used by the Tamron Lens Company and the International Travel News, and has lectured widely around the world on subjects including the storage, retrieval and treatment of digital photos.
Dr. Gordon is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology at Loyola University of Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Chicago Psoriasis Center at Loyola University. Dr. Gordon received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard University, a clinical residency in dermatology at Northwestern University Medical School in the Department of Dermatology, and a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at Northwestern University in the Department of Microbiology/Immunology.
Dr. Gordon’s chief clinical interest is psoriasis, and his research focuses on the immunological aspects of psoriasis.
Dr. Lyle is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and a consultant for several Boston area institutions. He received his medical and graduate degrees from the University of Chicago. He trained in pathology at the University of Pennsylvania Hospitals, completing his residency in anatomic pathology and a fellowship in surgical pathology. He then completed the Harvard combined dermatopathology fellowship training at the Harvard-affiliated hospitals; Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.
In addition to practicing diagnostic dermatopathology, Dr. Lyle maintains an active NIH-funded research lab studying adult skin stem cells and skin cancer stem cells. His lab focuses on translating the basic understanding of stem cell biology to human disease including alopecia, wound healing and cancer.
Joel Schlessinger, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and President of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Schlessinger is in private practice in Omaha, Nebraska, and is the founder and owner of LovelySkin.com.
Dr. Schlessinger has been involved in some trials in dermatology, lasers, and cosmetic surgery including treatments ranging from psoriasis to Reloxin, a new Botox competitor under development, and Perlane, a new wrinkle filler.
In his spare time, Dr. Schlessinger has written extensively for medical publications on topics ranging from psoriasis treatments to cosmetic surgery. He is on the editorial board of Cosmetic Dermatology, a peer-reviewed journal, and several other publications and serves on committees for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He regularly speaks at the American Academy of Dermatology meetings.
Dr. Eric Simpson has joined the Department of Dermatology at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Simpson was an outstanding physician in our Dermatology Residency program, and we are delighted he has chosen to remain as a faculty member. Dr. Simpson received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
In the clinic, Dr. Simpson specializes in all aspects of general dermatology such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis, psoriasis and skin cancer.
He is also actively involved in clinical research studying new approaches for eczema treatment and prevention. He has recently received a grant from the National Eczema Association to study the role of the skin barrier in initiating atopic dermatitis.
Dr. Simpson works both at our OHSU Center for Health and Healing clinics and at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Oregon.
Dr. Blessmann Weber graduated from the medical school of the Fundação Faculdade Federal de Ciências Médicas de Porto Alegre and performed her residency at the Santa Casa Hospital em Porto Alegre, Brazil. She then specialized in Pediatric Dermatology.
Dr. Blessmann Weber is a dermatologist certified by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology and based in São Paulo - SP - Brazil and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. She also acts as a professor of dermatology at the Fundação Faculdade Federal de Ciências Médicas de Porto Alegre and is the coordinator of the psicodermatology ambulatory.
Dr. Blessmann Weber works in researches of quality of life in the University too.
Dr. Zachary is Chair of the Department of Dermatology, University of California, Irvine, California. He received his medical degree from the Royal Free Hospital, University of London. His formal surgical education was received at the Department of Dermatology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. He returned to the UK in 1985 to set up the first Mohs and Laser Surgery unit in London.
Dr. Zachary takes on challenging skin cancer cases where he utilizes Mohs micrographic surgery and subsequent repair with dermatoplastic reconstructive surgery. He commonly lectures on these subjects. He has held a number of academic appointments and recently he was President of the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons.
